Job Description:
Join our team as a Kitchen Steward at Sea Island. Your primary role will be to assist with kitchen operations, including garbage removal, equipment transportation, and supply handling. We’re looking for someone with previous stewarding experience (preferred), good communication skills, and knowledge of food preparation and sanitation procedures. You should be able to understand and follow safety requirements, exhibit our core values of Respect, Integrity, Passion, Teamwork, Accountability, Caring, Loyalty & Trust, and maintain the Sea Island Five-Star Behavior Standards. Flexibility with working hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required. Please note that this role does not include driving a company vehicle. Other Requirements:
- Transport banquet food and equipment to and from events, following food transportation rules to prevent contamination and spoilage.
- Clean and store all kitchenware and equipment; review mis-en-place form and communicate needs for special equipment.
- Perform sanitation duties such as mopping floors, cleaning work surfaces, emptying trash containers, and sweeping floors.
- Maintain equipment in a professional manner and keep a clean, safe, and efficient workstation; report equipment breakdowns and safety concerns to supervisor.
- Communicate with the Chef on delivery time for food and equipment needed for events; ensure that food and equipment are set up prior to the event.
- Set up functions with necessary items and ensure that all cocktail parties and receptions are set up with props; decorate tables as required.
- Inform the Chef of additional food requirements and restocking needs; break down and return food, equipment, props etc to the assigned areas after events.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of current guest services, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Sea Island.
- Uphold company and departmental policies and procedures, attend all scheduled employee meetings, and execute other duties as delegated by leadership.
- Meet physical requirements such as ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, bend, push, pull and walk for prolonged periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and maintain compliance with Sea Island’s Company Resort Professional Image Policy.
