The City of Steubenville Civil Service Commission is accepting applications for a Wastewater Plant Operator in our Wastewater Department.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.; possession of a valid driver’s license; and may be required to obtain a Class B or higher CDL. Upon appointment, the employee will be required to obtain an Ohio Class I Operator’s certificate within three (3) years and pursue additional wastewater treatment licensing as directed.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of mechanical equipment operation; mechanical aptitude; knowledge of the methods and equipment used for treating sewage; knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations relating to sewage treatment; knowledge of safety hazards that exist in a wastewater treatment plant; ability to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment process by means of data collected from various gauges and meters. Knowledge and skill to use various computers and work with various electronic equipment and the programs associated with them to include creation of forms and spreadsheets.
Starting wage for this full-time, permanent position is $22.7953/hour. This is a Union position with benefits, the ability to earn overtime or paid time off, and the possibility for future advancement.
