Job Description:
The VP of Perioperative Services will provide leadership, direction and oversight of the Operating Rooms, Peri-Anesthesia, Pre-Anesthesia Testing, Endo, and Sterile Processing. This role reports to the Lynchburg Campus Hospital President and works closely with Senior Leadership at Centra to meet the goals and objectives of the Health System. In addition to collaborating with the Service Line Medical Directors and Physician Leaders, this role will also partner with clinical departments’ leadership for Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, OB/GYN, HVI and Anesthesia to ensure quality, access, and value across all Centra Health Surgical Sites.
In this executive capacity, the responsibilities entail overseeing Perioperative Services with direct oversight for Lynchburg General and Virginia Baptist Hospitals, along with providing strategic guidance for Surgical Services system-wide. This involves supervising operations in operating rooms, as well as inpatient and ambulatory surgical facilities. Surgical Specialties, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Gynecology, Urology, General Surgery (Vascular, Oncology and Gastrointestinal) Neurosurgery, Plastics, Otolaryngology/Head/Neck, Pediatric Surgery, Ophthalmology, Pain Management and ECT.
The VP is responsible for ensuring the successful performance of each unit/entity, which includes the efficient delivery of services, quality, regulatory oversight, and financial performance. The VP will spearhead overall strategic planning, devising growth strategies, and leading process improvement initiatives, all while fostering a culture that champions diversity, equity, and inclusion. The VP also ensures optimal staffing levels in systems and processes, aimed at advancing quality, accessibility, and cost-effectiveness. The VP will Support an on-going effort to push the Departments towards greater levels of excellence and efficiency.
This position serves as the most Senior Level Liaison with the Centra Medical Group as it relates to Perioperative Services and will be a key member of the Centra Executive Leadership Team. The VP will bring credibility, drive, enthusiasm, and passion to the organization, while supporting the Mission of Centra and its Core Values.
This position may work remotely from time to time.
Requirements:
Required Education: A master’s degree in a healthcare field, business, or related discipline.
Required Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of direct Surgical Services experience, and 10 years of progressive leadership experience in hospital operations to be proficient in physician relations, managing quality of care and financial performance. The successful candidate for the VP of Perioperative Services position will have demonstrated experience as a healthcare professional with skills and experience in leading and implementing a successful service line; a strategic and analytical thinker who can develop measurable action plans which will mobilize diverse teams to help drive tangible results that improve program outcomes. Recognizing that developing effective, strategic relationships are vital in a complex healthcare system, the candidate of choice will skillfully empower caregivers and use creativity and imagination to achieve positive change by developing effective working relationships with executives, peers, physicians, nurses, and regulatory agencies. The successful candidate must demonstrate an ability to mobilize, hold accountable and influence through clear communication of vision, direction, and expectations, as well as the ability to cope with the unknown and adapt quickly in a competitive, changing environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Current Registered Nurse licensure in Virginia, or a multi-state licensure privilege as a Registered Nurse.
Preferred Certification: Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR), Certified Ambulatory Paranesthesia Nurse (CAPA), Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN)
