Embarq Solutions is currently seeking an experienced Facilities Worker to join our facilities team in the District.
About the Role:
The Facilities Worker assists a licensed Engineer onsite at the new Short-Term Housing Facility in Southeast. Their primary duties will consist of repairs and assisting with heating, cooling and electrical system projects. He/She will report to the Project Manager, however, receive assignments and priorities from the Engineer onsite. The person for this role is dependable, professional and able to complete minor repairs and fixes. The Facilities Worker is in continuous presence of the Client and attention to detail, timely responsiveness and a high level of professionalism is expected.
What you’ll do:
- Complete work orders as submitted by end user and Client within contracted response time. Ticket requests can include minor plumbing and electrical repairs, general repair and maintenance, carpentry, painting and grounds keeping.
- Assist personnel with non-engineer duties. Tasks can include garbage removal, debris removal, walkway clearing, furniture repairs, exterior and interior cleanup in addition to soil and stain removal inside the building.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate:
Education and Experience
- At least 3 -5 years as handy person or related experience.
- High school diploma or GED minimum requirement.
Skills and Abilities
- Able to demonstrate time management skills to complete tickets.
- Able to lift 75 pounds, climb ladders and work in tight spaces.
- Possess basic knowledge of hand tools.
- Able to read and understand user/service manuals written in English.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Employee will work on-site where the job assignment is and can be exposed to all weather conditions. In addition, employee will work alongside all types of equipment and could be exposed to fumes, dust, and particles. Proper PPE is required. The employee is expected to be able to walk, sit, stand, climb stairs/steps, bend, kneel, stoop, have responsible eyesight, range of motion, hearing and feeling in hands and fingers. Employee will at times be required to use hand tools and various pieces of equipment. Noise levels vary and can become very loud. Employees are required to have the physical stamina to perform under these conditions, as well as other conditions not listed here. An approved uniform must be worn daily - complete with company logo and employee name.
