Job Title: Community Coordinator
Job Summary:
Community Coordinator
Origin Cowork is an independent, boutique shared workspace in Houston, Texas. The vibe inside is comfortable and clean, industrial meets eclectic. And the members reflect that. From lawyers to graphic designers, software developers, and accountants, their work is equally as varied — public relations, tech, real estate, shipping, interior design, and energy. No matter what they do, we care about them and their businesses. We want them to be as productive and successful as possible.
They are mostly a 9-5 group, but the space is open to members 24-7 with alarms set at night. Members communicate with the director and owner to let them know their early or late hours. Leases are month to month. Coffee, candy, fruit, and sodas in our striped drinks fridge are on the house. We want to be as flexible and accommodating as possible.
By the year 2025, it’s projected that 40% of the workforce will be free to choose their place of work. At Origin, our goal is to be the workspace of choice for this part of town so that people who want to be near the Galleria, downtown, and the energy corridor; have easy access to all the highways; and be close to home can have it all. That might turn out to be small companies, remote workers, Houston branches of companies with headquarters elsewhere, or parents from Awty International School across the street.
We are hiring for the position of Community Coordinator. If you love people and feel like a connector. If you enjoy being around people and learning about their experiences. If you are looking for a quiet place to work or study. If you can handle periodic complaints about the temperature and the printer because you love the idea of managing a business, this might be the job for you.
The Community Coordinator runs the day-to-day operations of the coworking space which include:
Walk-In Tours: You give amazing tours to help build membership. You can provide an overview of the space, and show available office spaces and cubicles to interested clients
Member On-Boarding: You sign up members in our system, and get them a door code, and a key to their office. You help them get connected to the internet and printer. And you make sure they know and follow the house rules!
External Visitor On-Boarding: You greet them at the door for day passes or meetings, tour them through the space, get them settled, and get connected to the internet. You pass along invoicing information for walk-ins to the management team.
Connector: You connect with members and get to know what they do and how their business works. For example, do they have lots of meetings with clients? If yes, you teach them how to reserve meeting room space and help usher in clients on days of meetings. Or show them where the bathroom is and how to help themselves to coffee.
Chief Communicator: You are the point of contact for everything in person. You let people know when an AC unit is being repaired or there’s an external event on the weekend. If someone complains about a member being loud on calls in the Bullpen, you let that member know, gently, that the phone booths are for calls.
Host: You make sure every member feels cared for, comfortable, and connected to you and the other members of the space. You are on top of the AC zones for all offices and open spaces. You make coffee; run the dishwashers; refill paper towels, soap and toilet paper; make sure there is paper and toner in the copy machine; take out garbage when it’s full. You are a general fixer. You are charming but tactful and firm when you need to be.
Mail Sorting: You check the mail each day and sort the mail into the proper cubbies. You also ensure the mailroom is tidy, and remind members of packages which may be there for a couple of days. You text pictures of accumulated mail to virtual office members once a week.
