US Vision Med Partners is hiring a controller to maintain, manage, and analyze financial statements, payroll, budgets, and tax compliance issues. This position will build out controls and processes to set up the organization for success.
US Vision Med Partners (USVMP) is a management company formed to advance specialty eye care services for optometric practices. Headquartered in Dallas, TX, they have practices in several states that they support with marketing, purchasing, operational expertise, financial administration, leadership, and staff training programs. Their financial partners serve on the board of directors and provide guidance for their executives to successfully lead the organization.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related degree required; CPA and/or MBA highly desirable.

Minimum of 10 years of managerial and accounting experience within the healthcare industry (optometry / eye care management services organization experience preferred but not required).

Experience with multisite accounting / reporting and consolidation of financial statements.

Immediate past employment in at least one of the following positions: Controller, Director of Finance, CFO, Accountant.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Quantitative and analytical skills.
- Ability to present complex materials in a manner that is easily understood.

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), ideally in an eye care industry setting.

Demonstrated experience preparing and managing budgets.

Computer literacy and fluency in accounting software: QuickBooks, Great Plains, SageOne, etc. Must have advanced Microsoft Excel skills. USVMP currently uses QuickBooks.

Familiarity with professional corporations, productivity reporting, CPT coding, accounts receivable management, provider contracting issues, doctor compensation methodology, human resource regulations, and general state/federal regulations impacting eye care practices and small businesses (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA, FWA, etc.).

Experience in negotiating general business contracts including insurance, vendor supply contracts, and loan / lease terms.

Ability to develop an overall financial risk management plan including general liability insurance.
- Proven ability to implement safeguards to minimize threats of theft and embezzlement.
- Experience with a fully integrated eye care office practice management software package ideal but not required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Thoroughly understands, reviews, controls, and audits the accounting and computer systems as they relate to financial and revenue cycle management / reporting.

Ensures that proper accounting controls are in place.

Prepares / oversees all bookkeeping and financial reporting functions, including internal bookkeeping, external accountant, practice accountants, and bookkeepers.

Monitors the billing and collection process to facilitate a healthy turnover and maximum collections of accounts receivable.

Oversees cash flow planning and ensures availability of funds as needed.
- Develops and utilizes predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans. Prepares financial reports and summary analyses for each entity.

Coordinates with outside accounting resources as necessary to manage tax liabilities and impacts.

Provides validation of accurate reporting, reconciliation of all accounts, and compliance with state and federal reporting requirements.

Works with the MSO to prepare an annual budget, to be initiated at the outset of the fourth fiscal quarter, with completion one month prior to the start of the following fiscal year.

Analyzes the cost / benefit and feasibility of opportunities for the practice.

With direction from the MSO, negotiates and maintains all insurance coverage for the practices and organization.

Communicates with the MSO on a transparent and consistent basis concerning all financial matters.

Coordinates all activities with the management team to maximize efficiencies of resources in the practice.

Manages direct reports and development of team.

Works with the MSO and other teams as needed on human resource-related issues (metrics, compliance, etc.).
The base salary range for this position is $175,000 – $225,000, dependent upon skills and experience.
