Job Overview:
Turmeric & Company is an Indian fusion and cocktail bar concept coming to Hunters Station in East Nashville this fall, and we are seeking a talented and experienced Head Chef to join our team. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kitchen operations, including food preparation, inventory management, and ensuring adherence to food safety standards. You will lead a small team of culinary professionals in delivering high-quality dishes in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Our head chef will also help create the menu, in tandem with ownership, to deliver fun and fresh ideas to the Indian cuisine space.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Plan and create innovative menus that meet quality standards and customer preferences
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure consistency and excellence
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed to maintain optimal stock levels
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen
- Collaborate with restaurant management to develop strategies for improving overall kitchen efficiency
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
- Handle any kitchen-related issues or emergencies that may arise during shifts
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or similar role in a high-volume restaurant setting
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, including food handling, preparation techniques, and kitchen equipment
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Solid understanding of inventory management and cost control principles
- Familiarity with fine dining practices and techniques
- Certification in food safety and sanitation practices is preferred
