Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician performs technical and mechanical functions as assigned for the purpose of operating the property in a manner consistent with maximum efficiency, cost effectiveness and service to the client and its occupants. This individual will maintain a high level of professionalism in addressing facility management issues including response to and resolution of any client requests or concerns. This position is located in a correctional facility.
Essential Functions

Maintain lighting fixtures and ballasts

Repair, replace and/or maintain 115V convenience outlets
-
Assist in more complex repairs and additions to electrical systems
-
Operate and perform tests on electronic systems: fire alarm, security, timers
-
Repair flush valve on toilets and keep properly maintained
-
Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on all plumbing issues throughout facility; including roof drains, storm drains, faucets, valves and water filters

Clear drainage/sewage stoppages using appropriate equipment and methods
-
Repair and assemble furniture
-
Change ventilation filters
-
Perform lubrication of motors/pumps/fans

Assist in repair of HVAC system equipment

Clean refrigeration equipment coils
Other Functions
-
Complete corrective/preventative maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner

Paint as needed/required

Perform cleaning/janitorial functions
-
Perform event setups and take-downs
-
Assist in installing new equipment for facility

Respond to On-Call emergency repair work
-
Maintain clean and organized work areas
-
Maintain and clean mechanical rooms and equipment
-
Assist other trades/technicians where assigned or needed

Maintain supply and materials in stock and organized

Locate and shut off valves & electrical circuits in an emergency

Attend and actively participates in staff/safety meetings

Maintain all logs per ACA requirements as applicable

Perform other assignments as needed and/or assigned

Fluent in English language to speak, read and write clearly

Technical Skills
-
Perform at a skilled level for at least two of Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, or Carpentry; and at a semi-skilled level in the others

Understand and abide by all applicable Safety Data Sheets (SDS) procedures

Understand and abide by all Lock Out Tag Out procedures
-
Possess a working knowledge of MS Work, Excel, Outlook and PDA
-
Valid Driver’s License
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent.
One year of progressive experience in the repair and maintenance of a commercial building, educational environment, correctional facility or health care facility preferred.
This position will be required to perform at a semi-skilled level for at least one of the following: Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Carpentry; Painting; with the ability to learn and become skilled or semi-skilled at the others.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time non-exempt position with working hours Monday through Friday. Some overtime, holiday, or weekends may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates both in a professional office environment and onsite supervision. Must be able to work in hazardous conditions with an attention to maintaining safety standards. Must be willing to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, industrial settings and constructions sites.
