The NIH Centers for Information Technology- Hosting and Storage Services Provides secure, highly available, enterprise Windows, Unix, Linux, Database, and mainframe hosting and data storage options to NIH ICs via on-campus and nearby data centers.
We are hiring a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer with AWS/Azure/GCP experience to augment our Cloud Infrastructure team. You will be an integral part of a team that will deliver next-generation cloud-based PaaS platform. You will work directly with other team members to identify, design, and build solutions that improve the developer experience and enhance autonomy to streamline the movement of Infrastructure to the cloud.
Responsibilities

Troubleshooting and performance tuning of cloud services in development, test and production environments

Maintain document and diagram cloud solutions, gathering requirements to support the platform and systems

Collaborate on cloud integration, migration projects, and disaster recovery planning.

Develop and document standard methodologies

Drive innovation and platform automation

Be a strong technologist with a pragmatic view and creative mind, and a natural collaborator with a line of business owners, architects, developers, service providers, and senior management

Build a scalable, secure, highly available, and fault-tolerant next-generation platform to enable application teams to scale their operations into the public cloud

Develop self-service automation tools to optimize infrastructure management including provisioning, maintenance, failover, and disaster recovery
Requirements
-
5+ years experience administering engineering services on-prem and in cloud
-
5+ years’ architecture, design of enterprise calls multi-cloud DR/BCP solutions.

Understand business and technical requirements, translating those needs into Cloud products and services

Must have significant expertise in designing, building, and automating highly reliable and scalable enterprise cloud solutions that use AWS (or Azure, Google equivalent) services.

Expertise in vRealize Automation for streamlined cloud infrastructure provisioning.

Experience with creating and maintaining automation pipelines

Proficiency in migrating on-premises applications and workloads to the cloud through refactoring, reengineering, or lift-and-shift

Ability to work in a high-pressure, Agile environment with both tactical and strategic deliveries

Must be detail-oriented, task-driven, and have superb interpersonal skills to present to both technical and non-technical partners

Cloud platform Professional level certification is preferred

Must be willing to come on-site to the NIH HQ in Bethesda, MD as needed

The annual salary range for this position is $83,264 to $124,600. Actual compensation will depend on a range of factors, including but not limited to the individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, certifications, location, other business and organizational needs, and applicable employment laws.
