- Control Systems Engineer II
The Equipment Controls System Engineer is assigned to integrate equipment controls systems with higher level production and quality control software systems.
Responsible to support the Kyocera AVX initiative of developing and maintaining Statistical Process Control (SPC) with the current software (Infinity QS) at Kyocera AVX Component Corporation’s Myrtle Beach, SC location. Other duties include designing and implementing plant / process specific solutions for SPC based on key manufacturing process parameters listed in a Plant Manufacturing Control Plan.
Interfaces with Local and Corporate IT members. Works in partnership with customers, manufacturing operations, quality control and assurance, engineering, maintenance, and support areas to solve problems and provide expertise on enhanced quality systems, compliance, and corporate quality policy requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for equipment controls system integration and data collection.
- Automate data collection through computerized interfaces with equipment control systems.
- Customize equipment controls systems where appropriate and required
- Create customized equipment control algorithms and user interfaces appropriate to each work center.
- Manage the Infinity QS SPC system for the KYOCERA AVX Myrtle Beach facility.
- Manage the SPC systems on the manufacturing floor
- Provide Special reports and access the SPC system data for other applications in the plant.
- Managing the SPC data for the Quality/Reliability of all products produced in the Myrtle Beach facility.
- Develop and maintain applications to assist in the data collection for the Quality/Reliability of local product lines. This is done using any combination of the programming language skills below.
- Management of the SPC data for the Quality Compliance Department
- Assist with the data collection for the Calibration Group
- Assist with the data collection for the Auditing Group
- Management of SPC data for the Quality Reliability Lab Department
- Ensure the proper data packages and data uploads are meeting all internal and external requirements
- Management of SPC data of Application for the Engineering Department
- Provide and access data to and from the Infinity QS system to other application software from the Engineering Department
- Provides training as required to end users during implementation and after go live support.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree required in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Background and knowledge of machine controls systems including Industrial PCs, PLCs, Robotics, and Vision Systems.
- Knowledge/skills in the use of Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Knowledge/skills in C++, Visual Basic, and PLC Ladder Logic
- Knowledge/skills in SAP MII/ME would be a plus
- Knowledge/skills in SQL and Microsoft SQL Server would be a plus
- Experience with the software and equipment development cycle
- Experience working with internal and external customers and meeting the demands specified
- Ability to interface effectively with corporate and local IT, engineering, quality, and management teams
- Analytical thinking
- Good communication skills – verbal, written and email etiquette.
- This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 CFR 120.15 is required.
