GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Supervisors coordinates the installation, repair and maintenance of facilities and machinery. They work with technicians and other maintenance employees. Their job is to organize and monitor or supervise the maintenance operations of a facility. They must also be willing and able to support the facility by performing repairs as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform all tasks in accordance with company safety and GMP policies/guidelines.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment at all times
- Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and participates in all tasks related to equipment and facility maintenance.
- Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of maintenance staff.
- Helps plan daily tasks and delegates them to the Maintenance Technicians.
- Takes part in developing maintenance policies and standards.
- Trains Maintenance Technicians.
- Routinely inspects various elements of the building, equipment and machines.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department.
- Evaluates systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.
- Assesses building systems to plan work assignments and project schedules.
- Develops maintenance procedures and schedules.
- Ensures maintenance and repair work is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Assists with departmental budget estimates and costs of specific repair projects.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Mechanical Skills (including but not limited to):
- Ability to work safely. Maintain safe work environment; communicate issues and take corrective actions when safety issues arise. Strong understanding of OSHA safety guidelines. Execute and maintain safety procedures in order to eliminate all accidents.
- Proficient with shop equipment (mill, lathe, etc.).
- Proficient with pipefitting, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Proficient with operating equipment installation and troubleshooting.
- Must have extensive experience working on pneumatic systems, piping and pump systems, conveyors, gear boxes, etc.
- Experience running, maintaining, and troubleshooting high speed packaging equipment.
_ Electrical Skills (including but not limited to):_
- Industrial electrical experience along with the ability to diagnose electrical motors and controls.
- Troubleshooting PLC based equipment.
- Knowledge of ladder logic.
- Control wiring, motor control, and relay experience.
- Install all types of wiring and main service drops to equipment.
- Knowledge of motor controls, photo eyes, and proximity sensors.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair ink jet printers and date coders.
Additional Skills Required
- Read and understand electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, blueprints, and equipment drawings and manuals.
- Maintain good housekeeping in all production areas and shop.
- Use of data, internet, and catalogs to locate equipment parts.
- Ability to make continuous process improvements.
- Familiar with Six Sigma and 5S work practices.
- Self motivated, open minded, intuitive team player with a good working attitude and good interpersonal skills, and a solid work ethic.
- PC proficient using MS Office.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify issues and determine repairs that are needed.
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Spanish speaking skills a plus but not required.
- Experience with computerized mechanical maintenance systems (SAP, MP2, etc).
- Capable of working without direct supervision, capable of following verbal and written instructions with minimum supervision.
- Ability to work independently as well as efficiently in a team environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Posses a minimum of 7 to 10 years of proven related maintenance supervisory experience.
- Be able to work 10 - 12 hour shifts, overtime, and weekends/holidays as scheduled.
