Tool & Die Technician
SeaCa Plastic Packaging, LLC relocated to Surprise, AZ from Fowler, CA in 2019. SeaCa Plastic Packaging, LLC is one of the companies under the umbrella of Seattle-Tacoma Box Company headquartered in Kent, WA. Currently, Seattle-Tacoma Box Company conducts manufacturing and supports assembly operations and warehouses in Alaska, Oregon, and Washington. Seattle-Tacoma Box Company is the parent company of SeaCa Packaging, Inc. operating in Dinuba and Stockton, CA, SeaCa Plastic Packaging, LLC operating in Surprise, AZ, and our most recent addition to the family, Harvest House Packaging, LLC operating in Holtville, CA.
The company collectively specializes in the manufacturing and distribution of corrugated, corrugated plastic and wooden packaging used throughout the food industry. Washington, Alaska, Oregon, California, and Arizona. SeaCa Plastic Packaging, LLC is an industry pioneer in the production of plastic corrugated products used throughout the food industry.
This is a senior level position for work in a manufacturing environment.
Schedule is:
Mon – Friday 8am – 5pm
Position Summary
The Surprise, AZ location of SeaCa Plastic Packaging, LLC is currently looking to add an experienced Tool & Die Technician to our team. The Tool & Die Technician will lead and plan tool & dies changes and repairs according to a schedule. They will also conduct preventative maintenance and basic mechanical repair of the components used in Extrusion.
Essential Functions
- The Tool and Die Technician leads scheduled mold changes, maintains correct setup of the die during production, and performs preventative maintenance of the dies, including cleaning, polishing and general repairs to dies as directed, using appropriate tools for the job.
- You will oversee improving the organization and efficiency of the position.
- Attendance at work during the regularly scheduled shift is an essential duty. This includes, but is not limited to the ability to work overtime as required
- Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and updates all related documentation.
- Ensure SOP procedures are followed correctly by inspecting tool & die set up and assures the SOP for the dies are updated and produce a quality part.
- Works with maintenance and outside vendors for ordering parts & keeps inventory to maintain the flow of production efficiently.
- Perform preventive maintenance on dies/molds - Maintain records of work performed on dies/molds and fixtures Lead and plan tool & die changes according to the production schedule.
- Helps to initiate, recommend improvements, and provide solutions to repetitive mechanical breakdowns to leadership and co-workers, and help the implementation of solutions.
- Support plant improvement programs with construction of secondary fixtures and other needed equipment - Move dies/molds, separate die/mold cavity and core, and turn over dies/molds as needed and in a safe manner - Work with other areas of management to implement engineering changes to parts/dies/molds.
- Obeys and conforms to all safety rules and regulations, always being aware of surroundings (foot traffic, product, other forklift, etc.), Follow lock out-tag-out safety and all personal protective equipment required for the job including gloves, heat protection sleeves, safety harnesses, hard hats, and other items as required.
- Works with the company software and programs to initiate work orders and close orders as they are completed, fill out shift reports and communicate with maintenance and the shift lead on work orders.
- Responsible for supporting the shift to perform preventative maintenance of all equipment used in Extrusion. Extrusion Equipment support includes, but not limited to: material handling system, pelletizer, all components of the extrusion line, silos, rail car unloading system, chilled water system, compressed air and components, stacker.
- Uses forklift to move items as required.
- Maintains current forklift operators’ certification card.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.

Education, Experience and Required Skills
- Ability to be trained or have experience to operate hollow form extrusion equipment
- Ability to be trained or have experience in mechanical adjustment and repair in job related activities
- Possesses the ability to read, speak, and understand English well.
- Has the ability to be trained, as well as take, and follow directions.
- Possesses and or will obtain (through training) certification in forklift operation.
- Possess a valid State Driver’s License (preferred).
- Possesses knowledge or will learn the Quality Management System.
- Possesses basic computer skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Has the ability to read, understand and follow schedules.
- Ability to pass a drug screen, where applicable for position.
- Experience operating a forklift and attachments (preferred).
- Experience with uneven/difficult forklift operation (preferred).
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit, walk, squat, climb, reach, turn, bend, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds throughout an 8-10–12 hour shift.
- Possesses the ability to withstand dusty, hot, and noisy conditions.
- Possesses the ability to operate a forklift in all weather conditions and situations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
