The purpose of this position is to coordinate and develop the city’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), Hazard Mitigation Plan, and other plans that support citywide emergency preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. This position will also provide support to the departments and the City Manager’s office to coordinate actual or potential emergency preparedness efforts. Additionally, this position will provide citywide training, collaborate with departments and local, state and federal jurisdictions, serve on committees, attend meetings and assist with budget and grant funding requests.

- Ability to develop emergency preparedness plans, provide training and hazard mitigation.
- A passion for providing excellent customer service and assisting staff and the public.
- Ability to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree, with preference to a degree in Emergency Preparedness, otherwise a related field or equivalent. Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis and must be in addition to the experience required for the position.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years related experience. Requires knowledge of complex systems such as Bold planning, Wireless Emergency Network System (WENS) and WEBEOC.
- Licenses/Certifications/Special Requirements:
- Certified Emergency Manager within one (1) year of hire.
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License upon hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in a municipal or government setting.
- HSEEP Certified.
- National Incident Management System (NIMS) Instructor.
