Documentary film company is seeking a Communications Coordinator to directly support the VP of Communications and Social Media Producer. McGee Media produces documentary content that is innovative, compelling, and immersive for various distribution partners including PBS, HBO and Discovery. We are seeking a team player who is interested in helping us amplify and energize audiences around the series we produce. This position is ideal for anyone interested in the promotion of television programming.
Responsibilities include:
- Assistant in identifying program content for the company’s social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok and YouTube.
- Assist in drafting social media copy for posting across platforms.
- Maintain content calendars to ensure optimized, targeted messaging across various social media channels.
- Archive social media content on Dropbox and Google drive.
- Assist in developing promotional materials for external distribution & delivery.
- Work with talent reps to obtain approved assets for use in promotion.
- Design newsletters and draft email blasts for tune-in promotion and quarterly promotional updates.
- Ensure production deliverables are prepared in accordance with third-party client delivery requests.
- Centralize and organize internal systems for archiving press materials including press breaks, photos, video files, bios, captions, talking points, story synopsis, pitch letters and correspondence.
- Assist with coordination of virtual and in-person promotional events.
- Assistant in updating company website.
- Assistant in tracking promotional expenses & reconcile invoices
Requirements include:
- Minimum of 2 years related experience in film/television production
- BA in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field preferred.
- Able to work virtually with minimal supervision, but must be able to work in NYC office when needed.
- Technically confident across all social media platforms.
- Ideally the candidate should have some basic video editing skills to prepare clips for social media use.
- Experience designing social media graphics (typically in Canva)
- Effective organizational skills, strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize and solve problems.
- Able to handle any/all confidential information, issues, and matters in a sensitive manner
- Strong proficiency In Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), database and file management.
- Technically confident with programs such as Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator and Premiere Pro a plus.
