Revenue Cycle Report Analyst is responsible for compiling and analyzing account and transactional data to support Revenue cycle functions and decision making. Acts as the primary resource for key performance indicator (KPI) data and data related ad hoc questions by various revenue cycle or clinical departments. This role works heavily in Excel operations and multiple reporting end user interfaces for data retrieval, report creation, and data analyses.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
1. Acts as the primary resource in revenue cycle in the development and maintenance of meaningful reports that are used as key performance indicators (KPIS) and benchmarks for revenue cycle performance.
2. Utilizes internal and external resources in determining appropriate consistent revenue cycle reports
3. Work collaboratively with members Revenue Cycle Team and provide excellent customer service in response to inquiries from other departments within the Health System as well as external parties.
4. Coordinates with revenue cycle, finance, and compliance staff to define and articulate reporting needs. Identify the best source of data and the best reporting tool for the defined need.
5. Reconcile and/or validate reports and metrics as appropriate and perform reasonableness comparisons on all data to insure accuracy.
6. Serve as the primary educator/trainer in the use of and meaning of all revenue cycle processes, reports/KPIs and policies and procedures.
7. Perform technical research including documenting findings to support the development of new processes, Revenue Cycle reports/KPIs and benchmarking data.
8. Create and modify dashboards to distribute data in a meaningful way to Revenue Cycle Directors, Executives, and clinical areas as needed.
9. Uses analytics and critical thinking to identify and clarify revenue cycle issues.

Education

High School Diploma or GED required.

College courses in Business Administration, healthcare management, or finance preferred.
Experience
-
3 years’ experience in a hospital and/or large multi-specialty physician group setting required.

Several years’ experience using advanced Excel functions for compiling and analyzing data required.

Minimum 2-3 years’ experience analyzing different components of Revenue cycle metrics preferred.
License/Certifications

Strong analytic abilities with demonstrated aptitude for quantitative analysis and attention to detail.

Project management skills with ability to manage, organize, prioritize, and multitask.

Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and various other report writer applications.

Proficiency in Cerner Revenue Cycle Application, Discern Analytics, and other Cerner reporting functionality strongly preferred.

Knowledge of DRG, ICD-9, CPT-4 medical record coding, UB04/CMS-1500 claim billing and revenue cycle accounting concepts strongly preferred.
