Arcturus Hospice is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Hospice Chaplain to join our team to provide spiritual and emotional support to our patients and their families during their hospice journey. As a Hospice Chaplain, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our patients and their loved ones by addressing their spiritual needs, providing guidance, and fostering a sense of comfort and peace.
As our chaplain, your expertise in cultivating strong relationships with individuals and families will enhance our ability to provide comprehensive care and support. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to identify key emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual needs to personalize each patient’s spiritual care services.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and caregivers in accordance with their individual beliefs, values, and preferences.
· Conduct thorough assessments of patients' spiritual needs and preferences, taking into consideration cultural and religious backgrounds.
· Offer counseling, prayer, meditation, and other spiritual interventions to patients and families, promoting emotional well-being and a sense of purpose.
· Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement holistic care plans that address emotional and spiritual needs.
· Assist patients and families in navigating feelings of grief and loss.
· Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of interactions, assessments, and interventions in patient records.
· Facilitate support groups, memorial services, and religious ceremonies as needed.
· Work closely with community religious leaders, congregations, and faith-based organizations to ensure comprehensive spiritual care.
· Provide education and training to staff members on spiritual care practices and cultural sensitivity.
· Participate in regular team meetings, case conferences, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
· Adhere to ethical guidelines and standards set forth by professional chaplaincy organizations.
Qualifications:
· Degree in Divinity, Theology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
· Ordination or endorsement by a recognized faith group or denomination.
· Previous experience in providing spiritual care and counseling, preferably in a hospice, healthcare, or palliative care setting.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to empathize and connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
· Sensitivity to cultural, religious, and spiritual diversity, with a commitment to providing inclusive care.
· Knowledge of and respect for various religious and spiritual traditions.
· Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Proficiency in maintaining accurate and confidential documentation.
· Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
· Certification or licensure as a chaplain is a plus.

Local travel to nursing facilities and the home setting is necessary. You will be compensated for this travel.
