Position Overview:
Provide a high-quality and consistent experience to OCEANAIR Inc.’s customers, both external and internal. Our Ocean Export Agent will guide a team to process and secure shipments. Support all sales efforts and quotes as assigned by department manager or supervisor. Complete all departmental activities as needed. **Schedule for this position may require weekends on a departmental rotation basis. This position may require working a holiday schedule based on the needs of the operation and requirements of the account.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:

Promote a positive relationship with the client by ensuring excellent, timely and proactive customer service.

Receive, review, and process high-volume and/or complex export transactions for client(s), including booking and billing.

Process data through the company’s system and obtain consular releases and other government agency releases as appropriate.

Process documents for outgoing shipments and provide clear instructions to the team for handling each shipment.

Ensure shipments of hazardous materials are checked and processed in accordance with all applicable regulations under the International Air Transport Association, Code of Federal Regulations and International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code.

Create quotations for individual shipments, including estimating prices for the shipper, selecting transportation companies to use, and setting profit margins for individual shipments.

Review and monitor all Shipper Export Declaration rejections, requests for information from clients, and other correspondence.

Identify, investigate, and resolve all areas of client concern in a timely and proactive manner. Alert client to special areas of concern or potential problems in the export process.

Constant follow-up until shipment has reached its final destination.

Processing of air waybills, including those related to Dangerous Goods.

Notification of exceptions to planned events in a timely manner to manager, customers, agents and sales staff as appropriate.

Follow-up daily with scheduled pick-ups and deliveries to various truckers per shipment.

Identify best costs and service per transaction to maximize margin per file while maintaining customer service expectations and timely processing of quotes.

Assist with bookings/scheduling pick-ups as assigned by manager with carriers and truckers.

Process/open files/AES and transmit information to carriers (bills of lading) as assigned.

Send pre-alerts to agents.

Process and finalize billings in Transportation Management system and the files.

Process and enter costs at time of expenditure in Transportation Management system and the files.

Follow-up with overseas agents as needed with notes to be entered in the Transportation Management system and the files.
