Mechanical machine builders are responsible for set up, operation, and maintenance of machinery that ensures the machine is a high-quality product for our customers.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Mechanical Machine Builder 1 - Apprentice
· Learn to safely and effectively paint
· Learn to safely and effectively saw
· Learn to safely and effectively grind
· Own tools
· Perform housekeeping activities as needed and keep work area clean
· Learn to safely operate fork truck
· Learn to safely operate overhead cranes
· Reliable and dependable
Mechanical Machine Builder 2 – Assembler
· Mechanically assemble items from machined and fabricated parts and various commercial components
· Mechanical fitting, mechanical alterations and additions
· Ability to repair improper welds
· Test operation of assembly
· Assembly and testing of pneumatic control systems
· Assembly and testing of hydraulic control systems
· Assemble equipment in the most effective manner in regards to time and function
· Learn to safely operate the mills
· Ability to identify and report defects in any equipment or protective devices
· To provide as-built drawings to Shop Supervisor
Mechanical Machine Builder 3 – Fabricator
· Fabricate parts according to drawings
· Fabricate parts using equipment to clean, prepare, cut, burn, and weld pieces
· Verify welding results by inspecting and testing welds
· Be trained and pass all Innovative Handling safety training classes including welding and metal cutting
· Learn to safely operate brake press
· Learn to safely operate shear press
· Learn to safely operate mill and perform slotting functions
· Ability to weld aluminum
· Ability to weld stainless steel
· Ability to run Torchmate
Mechanical Machine Builder 4 – Technician
· Mechanically assemble complete systems from various completed sub-assemblies
· System layouts including mechanical and electrical assemblies
· Estimate task/assembly hour for mechanical machine builder 1-3
· Ability to test and diagnose basic mechanical items and assembly issues
· Train other team members in support of departmental processes and equipment production methods
· Check cables for continuity and motor rotation
· Advanced machining – lathe operations, etc.
· Ability to perform risk safety assessments
· Basic robot jogging
· Mult-disciplined machine builder supervision and task allocation
Mechanical Machine Builder 5 – Integration Specialist
· Facilitation of proper equipment set up for customer runoff and acceptance visits
· Estimate task/assembly hour for mechanical and electrical machine builders 4
· Participate in project meetings from the design stages through the build and installation
· Analyze and makes recommendation for necessary adjustments, repairs, or modifications to systems
· Equipment estimating
· Lead role in research and development projects
· Ability to invent
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Must have experience in welding, mechanical assembly work, pneumatics and wiring.

Education and Experience:

Physical Requirements:
· Must be physically capable of performing manual labor tasks and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Must be able to stand for extended periods – 8 hours min
· Must be able to work overtime and available for weekends as needed
· Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters
· Ability to move in and around confined and clutter places and uneven areas
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
