The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring the store runs smoothly and efficiently, and providing exceptional customer service. This role involves managing staff, maintaining inventory, ensuring the welfare of animals, and driving sales performance. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for animals, excellent leadership skills, and strong business acumen.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Staff Management:
- Supervise and support store staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Ensure staff adherence to company policies and procedures.
Customer Service:
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing customer inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
- Assist customers with product selections and provide expert advice on pet care.
- Handle escalated customer complaints and ensure satisfactory resolutions.
Inventory and Merchandising:
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering, stocking, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Ensure merchandise is displayed attractively and is replenished as needed.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and manage inventory discrepancies.
Animal Care:
- Ensure all animals in the store receive proper care, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their health.
- Train staff on proper animal care techniques and procedures.
- Address any health or behavioral issues promptly and appropriately.
Sales and Marketing:
- Develop and implement sales strategies to meet store targets and increase profitability.
- Organize and participate in promotional events and marketing activities.
- Monitor sales performance and adjust strategies as needed.
Administrative Duties:
- Prepare and submit reports on sales, inventory, and staff performance.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage the store’s budget and control expenses effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in retail management, preferably in a pet store or similar environment.
- Proven experience in supervising and leading a team.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of animal care and pet products.
- Ability to manage inventory and merchandising.
- Proficient in using retail management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
