Position Summary: At Yellowstone Boys & Girls Ranch our Nurses are an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team for adolescents experiencing emotional, behavioral, psychiatric, and developmental challenges. They assist with the evaluation and treatment of medical/psychiatric care of youth at YBGR (Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch).
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

Assist with the evaluation, treatment, and referral of individual health and psychological concerns of YBGR youth.

Provide nursing assessments and required testing per Admission Protocol.

Assist with implementation of all medical treatment plans for each youth.

Dispense appropriate medications in a safe manner and perform appropriate medical treatments to YBGR youth according to physicians' orders.

Provide clear, concise, and current documentation for medical/psychiatric services as required in each youth's medical records.

Provide direct intervention, obtain physicians' orders, and assess all Special Treatment Procedures and Suicide Precaution in accordance with YBGR policy.

Work in collegial manner with the core team members regarding development of patient treatment plans.

Obtain informed consents for medications from parents and guardians.

Assist with random audits for compliance.

Review and recommend changes to Nursing protocols.

21 years old or older
-
Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.

Education: Associate Degree in Nursing from accredited nursing program

Professional License: Current license as LPN or RN in Montana or compact state.

Clinical Assessment: Ability to conduct nursing assessments, including evaluating symptoms, identifying risk factors, and formulating nursing diagnoses.

Therapeutic Communication: Skill in establishing rapport with youth, actively listening to their concerns, and effectively communicating empathy, support, and encouragement.

Crisis Intervention: Capability to assess and manage psychiatric emergencies, such as suicidal ideation, aggression, or acute psychosis, using appropriate de-escalation techniques and interventions.

Collaborative Care: Skill in working collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members, including psychiatrist, other licensed medical professionals, and therapists, to develop and to assure quality care.

Cultural Competence: Understanding of cultural diversity and sensitivity to the unique needs and beliefs of individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, adapting care practices accordingly.

Empathy and Compassion: Capacity to empathize with youths' experiences, demonstrate genuine concern for their well-being, and provide compassionate support without judgment.

Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation, including nursing assessments, care plans, progress notes, and medication administration records, in compliance with regulatory standards and YBGR policies.
