General Purpose:
Registered Nurse, (RN), oversees and directs staff in clinical nursing responsibilities as the Assistant Director of Nursing to the Director of Nursing to promote and ensure quality care and improved resident outcomes.
Essential Job Duties:
- Compliance: In coordination with the Director of Nursing and the Quality Assurance Coordinator.
- Management: RN/ADON ensures staffing/coverage to provide for sufficient personnel for delivery of resident/family services, including on-call, pursuant to GSLC policies and guidelines. Makes recommendations for staffing to the Staffing Coordinator. Provides administrative on-call support to clinical staff.
- Staff Development: RN/ADON participates in the planning, development and implementation of orientation and ongoing education of the clinical staff in conjunction with the Staff Development Coordinator. Participates in the development of personnel policies and position descriptions that delineate qualifications, duties and responsibilities for all level of clinical staff.
- Nursing Services: RN/ADON assists the Director of Nursing in assuring the 24-hour availability of nursing services to residents. Ensure staff coverage in conjunction with the Staffing Coordinator to meet GSLC needs. Manages resident care with contracted staff to achieve appropriate utilization of services and positive resident outcomes.
- New Admits/Intake: In collaboration with the Director of Nursing, RN/ADON will identify and evaluate resident needs by reviewing the initial intake information from multiple sources before assignment of direct care staff. Complete or coordinate referrals and admissions based on staffing assignment.
- Quality Assurance: RN/ADON will review, identify, develop, and analyze trends with clinical outcomes that directly relate to the CMS Quality Measures on the CASPER Report. Create effective Performance Improvement Plans, (PIPs) in coordination with the Quality Assurance Coordinator to ensure quality improvement outcomes that are resident centered, systematic, systemic, and sustainable. Participate in the QAPI Committee to report on these quality improvement measures.
- Other: RN/ADON participates on committees and special projects, i.e., clinical meeting review, etc., and other duties assigned.
- Physical & Sensory Requirements (with/without the aid of mechanical devices):
- Mobility, reaching, bending, lifting at least 50lbs, grasping, fingering, fine hand coordination, ability to talk and hear; ability to read and write; ability to communicate with personnel; ability to remain calm under stress.
Qualifications:
- Must be a registered nurse and maintain current Nebraska or Compact-State license.
- CPR certified.
- Minimum of two-years of experience as a staff nurse.
- Minimum of one-year supervisory experience.
- Must be able to contribute as a senior level business leader of GSLC.
- Must be able to learn/use technologies used within the workplace.
- Ability to assess and respond to the needs of staff, residents, and families.
- Skilled in nursing practice, able to address staff, resident, and family emotional stress, without discrimination.
- Preferably experienced in dealing with resident with special needs, i.e., dementia, end-of-life, chronic pain issues, etc.
- Must be able to manage resident care in a caring, competent, timely and effective manner.
- Must demonstrate a commitment to the GSLC philosophy of care.
- Must be able to relate professionally and positively to management staff and to work cooperatively with other associates at all levels.
- Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
- Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Must be willing to manage and complete all other duties as assigned.
