The Safety Specialist is responsible for implementing and maintaining safety policies to ensure a safe workplace at our Chicago operations. Works closely with Corporate Safety Manager to align processes with corporate policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, communicate, and implement safety rules and procedures.
- Issue and maintain OSHA & BWC reports.
- Monitor compliance and intervene in unsafe activities.
- Evaluate and manage safety-related incidents.
- Conduct safety committee meetings and monthly safety walks.
- Organize and conduct employee training sessions.
- Facilitate inspections of equipment and facilities.
- Oversee environmental policies and EPA record keeping.
- Stay updated on regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Coordinate annual facility audits for third-party vendors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or related field.
- 2+ years’ experience in safety role in manufacturing.
- Knowledge of safety regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Strong communication skills.
- Leadership, reliability, and positive attitude.
Physical Requirements:
- Long periods of sitting or standing.
- Must be able to stand, bend, reach, and walk.
