Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will be a key member of our Finance Department, responsible for supporting the accounting team with tasks including accounts payable, cash applications, and general ledger account reconciliations. Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and posting of journal entries to ensure accurate monthly financial statement closings within established deadlines.
- Perform detailed weekly and monthly general ledger account reconciliations to ensure coding accuracy, with a proactive approach to research and/or resolve any accounting matters that arise.
- Manage a comprehensive list of month-end tasks, including but not limited to:
o Perform bank reconciliations
o Inventory reconciliation and adjustments
o Review prepaid expenses/maintain amortization schedules
o Fixed assets entries including depreciation, amortization, and rollforward
o Review accrued expenses
o Debt entries including interest accrual and rollforward
o Various reconciliations related to payroll, prepaids, revenue, and accounts receivable
- Maintain and update accounting process documentation as needed.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other business units on new and ongoing projects to ensure financial statement accuracy and budget variance analysis.
- Support Accounts Payable and Cash Application functions during peak periods.
- Perform special financial analyses and research as directed.
- Support external audits by providing necessary schedules and explanations as needed.
- Engage in process improvements and automation to streamline accounting procedures.
- Perform all other necessary tasks as requested by the Accounting Manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
- 2+ years’ experience in accounting and/or audit roles
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite; advanced knowledge of Excel required
- Experience with NetSuite preferred
