Major/Essential Functions
Provides consultations and clinical services in an inpatient setting
Collaborates with leadership group(s) to improve quality of care in inpatient setting
Engages in extensive and on-going communications with community primary care physicians
Completes all medical records and documentation accurately and timely to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory, licensure, and accreditation requirements
Limited outpatient responsibilities, based on candidate's interest
Supervises residents and participates in teaching activities for medical students and/or residents
Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through scholarship
Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties
Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission
Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility
Upholds and promotes the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso
Required Qualifications
M.D. or D.O. degree
Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program in Internal Medicine
Licensed or eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Texas
Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years of experience as a hospitalist
Board Certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine for the rank of Assistant Professor or higher
Experience as a hospitalist in a community hospital setting
Experience of supervising residents in the hospital setting
Emerging regional and national reputation for the rank of Associate Professor or higher
