QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Current Texas Registered Nurse license issued by the Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Current BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR Certification.
- Previous experience in school, pediatric, emergency room, or community health desirable.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with parents, teachers, and administrators.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Demonstrated expertise in pediatric/adolescent assessments.
- Ability to understand and communicate in Spanish desirable.
- Computer/technology skills required.
- Time management and multitasking skills required.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for planning, management, and evaluation of acute, chronic, and emergency health care problems within the school setting, including referral and follow-up.
- Perform health appraisals, and develop nursing care plans.
- Manage and control communicable disease and maintain immunization compliance.
- Coordinate Health Services program with Instructional program.
- Teach within classroom and community setting.
- Provide specialized nursing care procedures.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records and documentation, and compile reports.
- Adhere to policies of the district and the department, including state and federal regulations.
- Maintain and enhance professional skills and knowledge.
- Complete required staff development; adhere to the district employee handbook policies.
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; lifting and transfer of students.
- Perform other duties as required by the principal and/or supervisor.
