*About The Role*
The Regional Trainer for Weldon Barber is a full-time hybrid role with 2 days spent Barbering, and 3 days allocated to training and educating Barbers in the shops of the assigned region. They are responsible for shaping the knowledge and skills of our Barbers in the Western Washington shops, contributing to their success, and leading by example through high-level Barbering and customer service. The Trainer will be involved in all aspects of Barbering skills, from fades to shaves, and all stages of a Barber’s tenure at Weldon, from evaluating technical interviews to arranging and providing ongoing education.
The successful candidate for this position will bring passion and commitment to the task of providing superior men’s grooming, luxury customer service, and maintaining best-in-class skills and techniques. This candidate will be an outstanding communicator, possessing diplomacy, tact, exceptional listening skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, a commitment to excellence as well as the ability to negotiate with all levels of staff to accomplish the mission and goals of Weldon Barber.
The detailed nature of this job description is meant to provide a comprehensive view of the scope of this position. Experience in all facets described in the Position Responsibilities is not required, and training and coaching will be provided.
*Position Responsibilities*
· Provide hands-on instruction in all aspects of barbering, including haircutting techniques, shaving, styling, and client consultation.
· Evaluate Barber candidates through technical interviews and create training plans to ensure all new hires are proficient and prepared to provide Weldon services at the level expected of a luxury Barbershop.
· Continue to evaluate Barber skills and techniques throughout all stages of tenure, identifying areas of improvement and training needs, and addressing as required.
· Maintain a positive and professional learning environment, fostering a passion for the barbering craft.
· Stay current with the latest barbering trends and techniques through continuing education.
· Maintain positive relationships with outside schools, agencies, and educators.
· Assist HQ Leadership and attend scheduled visits and classes at local cosmetology and barber schools/programs as necessary.
· Coordinate continuing development and education opportunities on a quarterly basis at minimum, networking with and bringing in industry peers and guest educators as necessary.
· Model, lead, and coach to consistent excellence in an elevated customer experience.
· Become subject-matter expert in booking software, messenger AI, and point-of-sale software, ensuring best practices are taught and utilized in the shop.
· Maintain safe and compliant work environments throughout the area of responsibility in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations as well as industry licensure requirements.
· Attend annual and biannual events such as Team Leader Retreat, Family Summer Event, and New Year Awards Event.
· Attend BarberCon annually.
· Assist in the development of best practices in all job functions.
Position Requirements
· Barber, Cosmetology, or Hair Design license valid in Washington state
· Minimum of 3 years of experience as a licensed Barber or Cosmetologist
· Trainer, Educator, or Instructor experience
· Experience managing personnel including hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and terminations
· Ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment
· Strong work ethic, passion for the barbering industry, and commitment to student success
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
· Flexibility and ability to quickly evaluate, prioritize, and pivot as emergent situations occur
· Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
· Ability to act with tact and diplomacy
· Ability to work independently
· Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
· Customer service experience
· Experience handling confidential and sensitive information
· Flexibility to be available and/or work a schedule that fits the needs of the business

Preferred
· 5+ years experience as a licensed Barber or Cosmetologist
· 2+ years experience in Training or Educator role in the Barber or Salon industry
· Multi-unit training, educating, and/or management experience in the Barber or Salon industry
*Travel*
This position requires frequent travel, more than 90% within the designated region. A personal vehicle and/or the ability to quickly travel to shops in the assigned region is required.
*Compensation*
The Regional Trainer of Western Washington is a full-time hybrid position (commissioned and hourly wage). Hourly wages for training hours range from $30 - $35 per hour, and commission ranges from 36% - 44%. Annual compensation ranges from $46,176 - $99,008 plus tips, which can average over 40% of service revenue for this position. Pay is based on several factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education qualifications, professional certifications, and experience level.
