Employment Support Specialist – Part Time
Recovery Program Solutions of Virginia (RPSV) is launching a new Employment Services Program in Fairfax County. The service will support adults recovering from mental health and substance abuse challenges to prepare for, seek, secure, and maintain employment.
Those who do this work well generally have all or some of the following:
· Understanding of mental health and substance abuse challenges and the process of recovery. This may include their own lived experiences.
· Genuine respect and hope for people, including those facing these challenges. This includes strong empathy, good listening and communication skills, and the ability to make authentic connections and promote productive interactions.
· Experience coaching (not directing) people to explore options, make decisions, take action, learn from steps and missteps by facilitating partnership, co-creating plans and solutions, seeing lots of options, and offering encouragement, structure, guidance, and accountability.
· Understanding of today’s job market, how to get a job and manage a career, and the distinction between career development and mere job placement/start. This includes believing that everyone has value/skills and can work, and helping others see and believe this.
· Boldness in reaching out to companies/organizations to research and learn of opportunities, market the services and individual candidates, access resources, and more. This may include experience in staffing, job development, business services human resources, hiring, or sales.
The Employment Support Specialist will serve individuals preparing for, seeking, and maintaining employment, and coordinate resources, and correspond with employers. Qualifications include:

· Strong organizational skills.
· Computer literacy, including the MS suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
· Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
· Personal transportation to commute between four locations in Fairfax County.
· Willingness to work in person in Fairfax County, VA.
Training will be offered and required.
Compensation: Part Time for 20 hours per week with pay range $28-$30/hour
