Overview:
As a Dispatcher, you will be responsible for supporting drivers, ensuring that our drivers are compliant with federal hours of service regulations. You will work with drivers to solve immediate issues as they arise. In addition, you will maintain a positive and professional relationship with each driver.
A day on the job may include:
- Manage a fleet of 40+ over the road/regional truck drivers, ensuring that they are following the company policies, procedures, and federal and state regulations regarding hours of service, safety, and compliance.
- Communicate with drivers regularly, providing them with information, instructions, support and addressing any issues or concerns they may have.
- Manage, assign, track and monitor the location, status, and condition of drivers and their vehicles, using various computer programs and software applications while maintaining and ensuring on time pick-up and delivery of all shipments.
- Schedule and assign drivers to routes and loads, based on their availability, qualifications, and preferences, while maintaining customer needs and expectations.
- Provide coaching to drivers to ensure maximum efficiency and the increase of productivity.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as Safety, and accounting, account management to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the fleet.
- Mentor new drivers, ensuring that they are qualified, competent, and prepared to work safely and effectively.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports of driver activities, incidents, and violations.
Experience required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient in using routing and dispatch software systems, as well as Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building skills, and the ability to work with drivers of diverse backgrounds and personalities.
- Strong leadership, highly motivated, organized, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Experience Preferred:
- Experience in trucking industry.
- In-depth knowledge of the hours-of-service regulations, as well as the DOT guidelines and requirements.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
