LPN Columbia Primary Care
In this role the successful candidate is an important part of the clinical care team and is responsible for working alongside physicians, nurses, medical assistants and other healthcare professionals to facilitate the accurate and efficient delivery of care in an outpatient setting. Daily responsibilities may include:
- Greet patients and assist administrative staff and MAs with coordinating patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas
- Perform vital signs and document in patient’s electronic record
- Gather and populate MU data on patient’s electronic record (allergies, medications, fam. history, etc)
- Administer injections (subq, IM and intradermal) as ordered by providers
- Perform phlebotomy/venipuncture as ordered by providers and prepare specimens to be transported to lab
- Perform EKGs as needed
- Perform point of care testing as trained, maintain log books
- Assist physicians with clinical procedures and examinations
- Develop and maintain educational material for patients and provide individual instruction as needed
- Oversee restocking of supplies in exam rooms and treatment areas
- Monitor supply inventories for practice and order supplies as needed
- Prepare, clean and restock exam rooms between patients (including disinfection of surfaces)
- Cleans and sterilizes designated equipment after use
- Maintain diagnostic and sterilization equipment, perform QC testing and maintain supporting documentation
- Oversee completion of daily refrigerator/freezer logs
- Clinical order entry as needed
- Maintain a safe and secure work environment by following all OSHA, EH&S and public safety policies and guidelines
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality according to HIPAA requirements at all times
- Provide coverage of other clinical staff as needed
- Exercise skill in prioritizing assignments in order to complete work in a timely manner especially when there are changes in assignments, pressures of deadlines, competitive requirements and/or a heavy workload
- Demonstrate good communication skills: use of appropriate vocabulary and grammar when obtaining and conveying information to patients, physicians, non-physician providers and staff at various levels; in person, over the phone, in writing and in electronically sent messages
- Ability to be flexible regarding responsibilities in order to facilitate patient and physician clinical/administrative needs

Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program required
- Current NYS LPN license in good standing required
- 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting preferred
- Current BCLS/AED certification required
- Phlebotomy certification or training a plus
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to bend and stoop using good body mechanics
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 30 lbs on occasion
- Regular exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable disease and other conditions common to a clinical work environment
- Ability and willingness to travel to different FPO practice locations within ColumbiaDoctors is required.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $57,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
