Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Collector to join our team. The Medical Collector will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate collection of medical payments from insurance companies and patients. This role requires strong knowledge of medical coding, billing, and collection processes. Responsibilities: - Review and analyze medical records, claims, and bills to determine appropriate collection actions - Contact insurance companies and patients to follow up on outstanding payments - Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for patients - Submit appeals for denied or underpaid claims - Utilize medical office systems to track and update patient accounts - Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all collections activities - Collaborate with the billing team to resolve any billing discrepancies or issues - Stay updated on changes in medical coding, billing, and collection regulations Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in a related field preferred - Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or collections - Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9 coding, and DRG systems - Proficient in using medical office systems and software for billing and collections - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal - Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities - Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment Note: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
