Test and Integration Tech –
Verify the builds. Via functional tests. RF, continuity, isolation, fiber optics. Need to understand the functionality of the modules to understand what the tests are saying.
Collimation – Optics testing tools. Test Tech B – Least skilled. Test Tech C. Test Tech D – Most skilled.
We will not separate them but have one classification.

Imaging and Optics Electro-Optical Alignments & Inspections Functional Optical Testing Minimal Resolvable Temperature (MRT) Legacy test procedures are subjective (can you see those four bars?). Newer testing is controlled through computer and optical software, but still requires intricate setup and processing. Often times requires support from mechanical assembly for setup, alignments. Minimal Resolvable Contrast (MRC) See aboveModular Transfer Function (MTF) See aboveSignal to Noise Ratio (SNR) See aboveFocus/ FOV Functional Testing Phototake/ Video Recording Functionality Auto-Video Tracking Laser Rangefinding Communications Radio Frequency (RF) / Electronic Surveillance Measures (ESM) / Early Warning System (EWS)High volume of work in RF testing (injected, radiated gain, VSWR, calibration, etc) in Sub Imaging Products. A good portion of this is classified. Engineering and Security Teams are working to establish some automated test equipment and supporting process. We can program a configuration file that is then used for push-button continuity and isolation testing. We use this on our more complex eletrical wiring harnesses. Power / Voltage Checks and Controls Environmental / Mechanical Hydrostatic Pressure Testing Pneumatic Pressure Testing Vibration Testing Currently performed by a sub-set of our test technician group (two Opto mechanical technicians) Thermal / Temperature Testing Currently performed by a sub-set of our test technician group (two Opto mechanical technicians) Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) Primarily a one-off test for new designs, requries support from engineeringAcoustic Noise Testing Requires some advanced calibration, quiet environment. My feel is that there may be some opportunities here for improved instructions, standardization. Structure Borne Noise Testing Requires some advanced calibration, quiet environment. Dew Point Testing
This process involves mechanical assembly support - executing a vacuum and purging a mechanical cavity with nitrogen to create a dry environment. We have struggled with this in the past (process, check, process, check, etc). We have made some significant improvements by altering our requirements (in collaboration with our customer). Friction / Torque Testing Mechanical Inspections, CMMStabilization Testing Motion Control
