Summary:
Valley View Recovery Center, a client-centered, holistic MI/CD facility, is looking for a Nursing Supervisor (RN) for our 49-bed, high-intensity, residential substance abuse treatment program for adult men.
The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for supporting daily structure throughout each day as well as additional duties that enhance the overall functioning of the Nursing Team. This individual supervises all nursing staff (RNs and TMAs).
Our nursing staff are active members of an integrated treatment team across all programs and services within the organization. They collaborate with clients to understand their goals and needs in order to tailor individualized plans that are preventative and restorative in nature.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Provide supervision, direction, and evaluation of performance to all nursing staff.
- Responsible for the hiring, training, and scheduling of nursing staff.
- Assist with overseeing patient care, and ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures and regulatory requirements
- Actively engaging with clients, developing positive relationships that support the client in meeting their goals.
- Initiate the plan of care and necessary revisions.
- Facilitating preventative and restorative health and well-being education in an individual and group setting
- Assist with ongoing training for nursing staff including new hire orientations and in-services as requested
- Be available for afterhours consultation and is available on-call, weekends, and holidays, as assigned.
- Fill in as a Trained Medication Aide (TMA) when needed.
- Train and oversee additional nursing staff and medication administration personnel
- Providing information and/or referrals to resources in the community for increased support and stabilization
- Medication management, administration, and reviewing medication log daily. Tracking all medications administered, keeping accurate records of dosage times and amounts in the MAR.
- Documenting observable behaviors and symptoms
- Address negative behaviors with a positive attitude with both staff and clients.
- Work with Treatment Director to create Policies and Procedures pertinent to nursing/medical services.
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of client needs to make appropriate community and in-house referrals
- Complete documentation as appropriate regarding authorizations, client needs, family needs and agency requests. Document all contacts, incidents, and progress while client is in the program
- Participate in clinical staffing meetings as part of the nursing team as requested.
- Be present and involved in weekly management meetings.
- Work collaboratively with all other organizational services and team members
- Maintain ongoing, current, and required training for best practice service delivery
- Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of nursing experience
- Experience in managing/supervising employees in a healthcare-related field
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills working with colleagues who thrive in a multi-cultural setting
- Maintain strict and confidential guidelines regarding current and former clients, their families, and referents in accordance with federal and state laws
- Demonstrated ability and emotional intelligence to work in unpredictable, crisis response, and team-oriented setting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-directed and ability to work independently
- Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Minnesota
- Familiarity with Procentive software a plus
