Title: Sr. Technical Writer
Location: Mountain View, CA – Hybrid
Duration: 12+ Months Contract
Job Responsibilities:
Be able to independently synthesize reference materials (such as emails, prds, recordings) to create content. After creating reference documentation be able to create over arching overview materials to explain the context of the collection of reference documentation. Create reference materials including the background and context information
○ Topic based writing for internal and external audiences in the Ads platform domain (see here)
○ Data Management and Business Intelligence tools
○ Creating operational documentation
○ Documenting databases concepts, especially data models, BI principles, views, datasets, reporting and analytics
● Create more than procedural documentation
● Manage own portfolio of work
○ Mange Jira documentation tickets
○ Proactively work with Product Managers and SMEs
○ Unblock anything in the way of delivery dates
○ Solicit feedback on documentation and make the suggested changes and not take feedback personally
○ Work independently to fill in gaps when SMEs are unavailable
○ Commitment to high quality work
○ Confidence work independently
● Sharing writing samples will be helpful in understanding candidate skills
Role Requirements:
Key Responsibilities and Expectations
● Work with product managers, engineers, and other organizational stakeholders to produce and maintain world-class documentation, including: User Guides, API Developer Guides, In-Platform documentation UI elements
● Learn complex concepts, and communicate the information in a way that is engaging and understood by users
● Build and maintain content that goes beyond traditional documentation, such as online video, demos, guided tours, and other educational techniques
● Proactively contribute to improvement of the knowledge bases
● Publish and maintain templates for written documentation
● Manage the end-to-end documentation process including authoring, editing, reviewing, publishing and maintaining content
● Plan, schedule, and track documentation work to meet product release dates and client deliverables
● Gather customer feedback on documentation to improve usability
● Monitor metrics on the usage of documentation
Competencies and Skills
● Excellent English written and verbal communications and experience working with content in multiple mediums; other languages are an asset
● Experience working cross-departmentally and track record of effective collaboration
● Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with evolving project requirements and priorities
● Appetite to learn with a positive attitude, willing to jump in and tackle new challenges
● Proven ability to develop comprehensive and accurate documentation

Technical Proficiencies (languages, tools, systems, etc.)
● Experience working with the following tools preferred: Confluence/JIRA, Git & Github, HTML, Markdown
● Experience working with a CMS
● Experience using graphical tools
● Working knowledge of basic office tools, including MS Office Google Docs/Drive, Slack
● Knowledge of JavaScript, JSON, XML Typescript and APIs
Qualifications (education, certificates, special training, etc.) and Experience (years & background)
● 4+ years of technical writing or related experience and be able to share writing samples
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $55.00 - $57.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
