Executive Director- Position Overview
The Guam Women’s Chamber of Commerce (GWCC) was incorporated in
2013 as a 501(c)(6) nonprofit business association with over 200 members.
The Executive Director is the primary management representative for GWCC,
responsible for daily operations and general oversight of all programs,
activities, budgets, and contracts.
The Executive Director supports the
President and Board of Directors to develop the organization’s strategic plan.
Once the plan is approved by the Board, the Executive Director will play a
crucial role in coordinating the Chamber’s resources and relationships to
ensure the successful execution of the plan.
The Executive Director shall be highly engaging with our members and provide
value, while increasing retention rates and welcoming new members in record
numbers. The Executive Director shall be a robust and effective communicator,
with a proven ability to manage and integrate feedback from various
stakeholders including the Board, members, sponsors, vendors, and community
partners.
The Executive Director shall be fiscally responsible in their approach to
budgeting, event management and overall expenditures, with a keen eye and
drive to enhance our revenue base through creative measures. He/she should
also be accountable, have depth in creating and maintaining budgets and the
controls necessary to achieve success.
Job Description & Typical Work Activities
This role will contribute to the organization in the following
capacity:
- Operations: Assure effective and profitable operation for the
GWCC through optimum use of all resources, equipment,
technology, and processes in order to fulfill the goals of the
organization.
- Strategic Planning: Support the President and Board of
Directors in the development and successful implementation of the
GWCC’s multi-year strategic plan. Work with the committees and
the board to develop the annual budget, and ensure that
operations and activities stay on track, as budgeted.
- Development: Lead in identifying and securing revenue
generation opportunities that provide benefits to the members.
Write grants and work on diverse funding initiatives, such as
partner resources. Work with the Women’s Business Center
Committee on the Women’s Business Center initiatives in renting
out space and an affinity/commission program.
- Membership and Sponsorship Retention and Growth: Engage
in direct member contact with a specific objective of recruitment
and retention of members and sponsors. Reach out to companies
and organizations to increase sponsorships. Work with the
membership committee to develop programs that enhance value to
existing members/sponsors and attract new ones.
- Public Relations: Ensure that the GWCC has a visible,
consistent and positive public image through media contact,
speaking engagements, and presence at appropriate public and
civic functions. Serve as the primary spokesperson for the
organization.
- Fiscal Responsibilities: Manage and ensure performance of all
contracts with GWCC, including negotiations, communications,
and payment processing. Work with the organization’s accountant
and treasurer on monthly and annual reconciliation and ad hoc
fiscal reports.
- Supervisory: Oversee and work with consultants on website,
social media and accounting, and oversee internships and/or
volunteers. Oversee marketing and ensure branding consistency.
- Administrative: Effectively work with volunteer committees to
achieve Chamber objectives. Provide administrative support to
volunteer committees. Assure the board of directors receives
relevant, timely communication to enable the board to operate at
maximum effectiveness; coordinates board meetings, including
development of the agenda.
- Additional: Lead in other key initiatives as needed by the
organization: Provides assistance in organizing and overseeing
special events and work with hired consultants. Logistics of events
may include, but not limited to: recruiting volunteers, managing
staff, purchasing necessary equipment, and outreach to the
community for participants. Provides support to committees to
ensure successful execution of events, activities and initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications
The skills and attributes required to perform in this role include:
● Related experience working in an executive position with
significant financial and strategic responsibility.
● Proficient knowledge of computer systems, specifically in
MS Office products and
● Financial understanding. Outstanding public speaking,
presentation skills, time management, and organizational
skills.
● Verbal, non-verbal, listening and communication skills with
volunteers, members, peers, and coworkers.
● Ability to plan, organize, supervise, delegate, can adapt
and work well under pressure, and take direction from the
Board of Directors.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $36,000.00 - $49,783.98 per year
