GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Humane Society of North Central Florida is seeking a relief veterinarian for our public Wellness Clinic and shelter. The purpose of this position is to provide services to our low cost public Wellness Clinic and to support our shelter population. This position reports to the Director of Veterinary Programs and the Executive Director. HSNCF is a non-profit 501(c)(3), limited intake, “no kill” shelter dedicated to the overall success of our community and greater North Central Florida region. Our overall mission is to end unnecessary euthanasia, not only through adoptions, but by offering a wide variety of services, including, but not limited to, wellness veterinary care, spay/neuter, and shelter diversion. Our team is passionate about our goals and we are looking for a part time or full time veterinarian to join our endeavor.
CLASSIFICATION & SALARY
Part-Time; Full-Time; Hourly; Non-exempt
Hourly rate determined based on experience
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Provide quality medical care to both public and shelter patients.
- Work with clients to provide a service that is tailored to their needs and the needs of their pets to attain the best possible outcome.
- Foster the growth and wellbeing of our clinic program.
- Give clear direction and oversight to technicians, veterinary assistants and volunteers.
- Consider the bigger picture and work independently and as a team (with staff and volunteers) to accomplish the greater good for the organization and the community.
- Positive, flexible attitude.
- Assist in shelter management as it pertains to veterinary medicine.
- Recognize the individual contributions of volunteers, staff, and rescue partners to the success of our organization.
- Work with, support, engage and delegate tasks to volunteers as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned by Veterinary Programl or Executive Directors.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- License in good standing in the State of Florida.
- Professional liability insurance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong communication skills to enhance client, employee, and foster education.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced and demanding, but rewarding work environment where self-direction is key to success.
- Maintain familiarity with current research and practices for veterinary care to support community animal welfare.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be in good health. Any allergic condition that would be aggravated from exposure or through contact with animals, the outdoors, chemicals used to sanitize facilities, vehicles or equipment, is a disqualification.
- Must stand, walk, bend and stoop frequently to perform duties. Have the ability to perform prolonged strenuous physical activity, including lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 40 pounds alone or up to 100 pounds with the help of fellow employees for short distances.
- May be exposed to hostile or abusive members of the public. Must be able to deal with an often times emotion-charged public and carry a fast paced and changing work load which at times can be stressful.
