Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Service Writer to join our team. Family-owned business for almost 40 years. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, accurately diagnosing vehicle issues, and communicating with service technicians to ensure prompt and effective repairs. This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of automotive systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
Duties
- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner, answering any questions they may have about their vehicle.
- Obtain vehicle information, including make, model, year, and mileage, and enter it into the shop management system.
- Conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle to identify any issues or needed repairs.
- Use technical knowledge to diagnose and recommend repair services to the customer.
- Prepare and present detailed estimates of the work required, ensuring that all parts and labor are accurately listed and priced.
- Identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell additional services or products to customers.
- Communicate with service technicians to ensure that all work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Manage and prioritize service requests, ensuring that all work is completed to the customer's satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols and ensuring that all safety equipment is properly used.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring that they feel valued and supported throughout the service process.
- Continuously update knowledge of new technologies and automotive systems to stay current with industry developments.
Skills
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to handle a wide range of customer interactions.
- Strong understanding of automotive systems and repair procedures.
- Ability to accurately diagnose and estimate vehicle repairs.
- Proficiency in using a shop management system to manage service requests and communicate with technicians.
- Experience with brake repair and auto body repair is a plus.
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers and service technicians.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple service requests at once.
- Ability to transmit accurate and complete information to technicians.
- Knowledge of oil change procedures and the ability to upsell oil change services to customers.
- Certification in automotive service is preferred.
