POSITION DESCRIPTION
Counter Sales / Customer Service
Employee Classification: Hourly Non-exempt
Supervision Required: Minimal Routine Direct
Supervised By: Manager / Asst. Manager
Essential Function:
The Counter Sales Representative is responsible for greeting customers both in person and on the phone; taking orders, running the cash register, answering questions related to building materials, keeping the sales area neat, stocking shelves, store inventory management and providing excellent customer service.
Job Duties / Responsibilities:
Often the first point of contact for customers, the Counter Sales Rep MUST provide excellent customer service and have a cheerful, helpful, can-do attitude and presence.
Answer customer questions about building materials
Take customer orders and enter into computer system
Maintain store inventory
Be responsible for cash drawer management
Maintain a clean, orderly work area around the counter and throughout the store
Education / Training / Licenses Required:
High School diploma or equiv.
Basic computer training
Experience / Skills Required (length and type):
Minimum 2 years customer service experience in a retail environment
Construction experience or experience selling building materials
Bi-lingual verbal communication helpful
Physical, Environmental Factors:
Ability to lift, shove, push, carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to communicate effectively
Primarily indoor retail environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
