Tennessee Maternal Fetal Medicine is a growing, dynamic and well respected Fetal Medicine specialty practice located in Nashville, Tennessee. Privately owned, our Providers and Staff are committed to providing outstanding and compassionate care to high risk mothers and the miracles inside them.
We are currently searching for a Medical Receptionist with experience being a professional, compassionate, and knowledgeable individual. The medical receptionist is the first point of contact for our patients via phone and in person. They are responsible for greeting, scheduling, registration, collection of patient co-pay and posting, and filing of medical records. This person will works closely with providers and clinical staff to ensure proper patient flow.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Ensures smooth operation of the front desk, including scheduling appointments, patient reception, patient check-in, handling of cash receipts, processing mail and telephone reception.
- Work closely with the medical staff to ensure smooth operation of the clinical area, including patient flow and processing of medical records.
- Checks in patients, verifies and updates necessary information to support accurate registration.
- Files and coordinates lab work, physician reports to patient charts.
- Conveys an impression reflecting favorably on the Practice.
- Uses and maintains office equipment and has the ability to follow proper procedure for repairs and services.
- Identifies coding changes, insurance comments and precertification while implementing these changes with the practice.
- Maintain confidentiality of information regardless of source/medium.
- Electronically files and coordinates patient referrals and medical records to patient charts. Understands insurance verification and precertification.
- Complies with all policies and procedures
- Organizes and manages time wisely
- Ability to sit for extended period. Strong customer service skills
- OB/GYN or OB triage a plus
- Bilingual/Spanish a plus
- May be requested to work in any four TNMFM locations (Nashville, Mt. Juliet, Franklin, Murfreesboro) on a temporary or more permanent basis
Requirements: High school equivalent, some college preferred
- 1-3 years working experience in a medical office setting.
- 3-5 years of customer service experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology, word processing and computer experience required.
- EMR Electronic Medical Records knowledgeable.
Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Customer service and strong interpersonal skills.
- Typing, computer and office equipment knowledge required.
- Proper telephone etiquette.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish desirable.
- Ability to work as a member of a Team absolutely necessary.'
