JOB SUMMARY
The inventory control supervisor ensures that the stocks of the organization are managed well. They take steps to decrease the excess inventory as well as ensure that enough stock is available to meet the customer’s requirements. They design inventory management plans that will help in streamlining the orders received thereby reducing unnecessary waste. They ensure that the products are stored properly and track the sales figures, ensuring the accuracy of inventory in the system.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Establish and execute cycle count schedule in compliance with corporate accounting objectives
- Coordinate and oversee daily cycle count of the various inventory assets
- To identify and reconcile cycle count discrepancies, i.e., shortages as well as overages
- Audit process along with paper flow errors and try to identify inconsistencies that may affect the accuracy of the inventories
- Organize and maintain efficient material handling and storage to ensure inventory areas are taken care of
- Maintain cycle count records and provide the reports related to cycle count activity to be reviewed by management
- Implement and maintain policies and procedures related to inventory control
- Coordinate and supervise the appropriate processing of various purchase requisitions, receiving reports, purchase orders, and inventory requisitions
- Ensure that investment in inventory is well maintained by taking periodic physical inventories
- Communicate with vendors about the merchandise and its concerned inquiries
- Prepare reports of inventory balance and use computer applications and database management to perform assigned work effectively
- Authorize any adjustments made to inventory and investigate the inventory issues like quality control complains, customer complaints regarding products, etc.
- Track the variances in the inventory, to plan and interpret variances and correct any problems that have come up
- Validate the merchandise that has been received to the package and description details from the original order
- Accurately input data related to product description in the inventory system
- Work with various departments and maintain a flexible attitude supporting all the work that helps in achieving organizational goals.
- Maintain high levels of customer service, both internally and external
- Coordinate damaged and defective products and make sure that is accounted for and handled properly
- Make suggestions for improvement to the management team to help ensure that all employees work towards achieving the objectives related to inventory control management.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong analytical and excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good organization and business administration skills, attention to detail, willingness to improve, learn, and adapt
- Ability to supervise, control, manage, instruct, and lead others to complete assigned tasks along with computer skills, Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Time management, as this position will need to handle multiple functions and meet deadlines consistently
- Ability to function independently with minimal supervision and should be self-motivated.
Education/Experience:
- 3-5 years prior experience in Inventory Control
- Prior leadership and supervisory experience in inventory control
- Experience with computer software systems (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Forklift certification or able to operate forklift.
Work Environment:
- Will work in office setting
- Will work in environment where safety precautions are required to be followed
- Protective gear such as gloves, work boots, and smocks are required in some areas
- Will occasionally work around moving machinery
- Will occasionally work in environment where temperature is 0- 40 degrees Fahrenheit
Physical Demands:
- High degree of flexibility, as work involves a lot of sitting, standing, bending, walking, etc.
- May require manual dexterity to operate the office machines and other industrial equipment.
