The Driver Training Instructor is responsible for creating a culture that revolves around driver training, safety, and execution in all Illinois facilities. As we all focus on continuous growth, the Driver Training Instructor plays a pivotal role in ensuring that all associates, current and future, are properly trained in safe driving habits, DOT regulations, road and rail procedures, and are aligned with our values and enforced. The Driver Training Instructor will work as an individual but will be responsible for consistent communication between driver managers, safety team, dispatch, terminal managers and office associates. This individual would need to be a reliable self-starter who can flex schedule/locations, construct a solid training program, holds a CDL, and has training experience,. his individual would be a shared resource across different arms of the business to cover all Illinois facilities.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct classroom and at truck instruction, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
- Execute Training and Safety responsibilities in accordance with government regulations.
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with approved company manuals, policies, procedures, contract documents and good engineering practices.
- Analyze Motive and all driver log technology and set predictive analytics regarding driver coaching.
- Strong Communication, Interpersonal, time management, and problem-solving skills that can be utilized to coach front line professionalism.
- Collaboration with Safety & Compliance team regarding any incidents that need documentation or next steps.
- Collaboration with Dispatch / Driver Managers / Leadership Team to ensure driver trainings are planned for and not impacting service.
- Administer training and compliance with the DOT / OSHA to maintain effectiveness.
- Conduct yearly safety certification on current associates to reduce workplace injuries and avoid complacency.
- Mitigate risk by adhering to all company safety protocols, regulatory compliance, reports and documentation processes.
Leadership Functions:
- Customarily and regularly direct the work of two or more associates.
- Create a culture that keeps safety on the forefront of every aspect of the business.
- Exercise authority to make suggestions and recommendations to any change of status of associates with continued unsafe behaviors.
- Execute established leadership processes.
- Provide documentation and coaching that helps mitigate Maersk liabilities.
- Receive and collaborate with leaders any safety related complaints and/or concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Create and sustain a high-performance environment through your leadership processes and actions.
