We are seeking a dedicated Career Services Advisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about guiding and supporting students in their career development, providing valuable resources, and fostering professional growth.
This is a highly responsible administrative position to develop job opportunities and assist students with job applications, and the employment process. To achieve the objectives of this position, close collaboration with the instructional staff is essential
Duties:

Educate students on career planning, job search strategies, resume writing, and interview preparation.

Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to assist students with career exploration and decision-making.

Utilize our student systems to track student progress and maintain accurate records.

Assist in recruiting efforts by connecting students with potential employers.

Provide mentoring and support to students throughout their career development journey.

Student Placement Assistance: Assist students throughout their training program in finding job placements. This includes outreach efforts to secure employment opportunities for upcoming graduates.

Classroom Presentations: Regularly deliver classroom presentations using topics prescribed by NETTTS (New England Tractor Trailer Training School).

Support for CDL Students: Provide follow-up activities and assistance to CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) students who are pre-hired by trucking companies during their training. Ensure they can successfully start employment upon graduation and licensure.

Former Student Placement: Assist former students with job placement by providing information on procedures, application forms, and obtaining necessary documents (such as letters of recommendation).

Initial Student Interaction: Engage with students during their first week of classes, following criteria set by potential employers. Provide students with employment application forms from companies.

Coordination with Employers: After successful testing for CDL and other required certifications, contact prospective employers and coordinate orientation and training schedules between employers and graduates.

Record Keeping and Compliance: Maintain records and stay informed about student outcomes related to graduation rates, licensing rates, and employment rates. Perform employment verification procedures in accordance with ACCSC (Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges) standards and NETTTS policies.

CVUE System Management: Input testing and placement results into the CVUE administrative system promptly to ensure compliance with third-party requirements regarding student outcomes.

Engagement with Unlicensed CDL Grads: Regularly reach out to unlicensed CDL graduates to keep them engaged with the school, assisting them in achieving licensure and obtaining employment in the commercial driving profession.

Other duties as developed by the Director of Career Services and the Campus Director.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED.

Minimum of two years’ experience demonstrating job placement, recruitment, instruction, sales, or administrative duties.

Experience in career advising, academic advising, or related field is preferred but not required.

Strong communication skills to effectively interact with diverse student populations.

Familiarity with student information systems is preferred but not required.
-
Ability to work collaboratively with instructors, staff, and external stakeholders.
-
Experience working with students from various backgrounds and cultures.
-
Passion for helping others succeed in their career paths.

Broad knowledge of or contacts with local CDL carriers and HVAC companies is helpful but not required.

Ability to use a computer, telephone, and other basic office equipment.
TRAVEL: Occasional day travel to attend meetings/workshops and other employer locations is required. Minimal overnight travel will be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have mobility to move throughout the campus. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with students and employers, to bend, stretch and reach files. Ability to sit/ be sedentary. Ability to use a computer, telephone, and other basic office equipment.
