GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs construction inspection and quality assurance on all Public Works projects related to general improvements to City’s infrastructure and on limited private construction elements. Ensure compliance with City Standards, Codes, designs, specifications and contract documents.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general supervision of the Director of Planning & Development/City Engineer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school and four (4) years of experience in construction/inspections. Associate’s degree in Engineering, Construction, or Project Management is preferred.

Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License with good driving record.

Must have considerable knowledge in reading and interpretation of technical drawings and specifications, Public Works construction inspection, management, methods and materials, contract administration and pay estimates, construction materials tests and results.

Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors, other departments and the public; ability to follow written and oral instructions; ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Must have knowledge of use of computers, maps, GIS, email, scanner, cell phone, digital photographs and digital file storage.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be highly organized, motivated, dependable, patient and able to maintain discipline. Must be capable of following directions and have interest to learn new skills. Basic computer skills required. Must possess good verbal, written, communication skills. Must be a good listener, have the ability to complete daily documentation requirements and work well with others.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly work outside and be exposed to different weather conditions, noise, dust, etc. The employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and in confined spaces.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in the office, and moderate to loud in the field.
