Laboratory Data Entry Specialist
Reports to: Accessioning Supervisor
Supervises: None
Full-Time, Day Shift
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
· Accessioning specimens
· Specimen matching with 100% accuracy.
· Specimen Quality Control on a case-to-case basis.
· Ensuring that appropriate controls were delivered with quality-matched slides to Case Management.
· Accessioning patient cases into the LIS (Laboratory Information System).
· Filing and scanning of patient requisitions into the Document Control.
· Performs other duties as assigned by the Accessioning Manager
· Efficient Time Management
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education and formal training:
· College Degree Preferred, High School Diploma or equivalent
· Licenses: None required.
Experience:
· At least 1-year relevant medical office experience is preferred.
· Some specialized training in medical office skills, terminology, and HIPAA compliance is preferred.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to operate laboratory equipment including computer systems.
· Ability to prepare and deliver information in written and oral forms.
· Ability to communicate regular status to superiors and peers.
· Good computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (including Excel).
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills necessary.
· Must be able to communicate effectively by telephone, e-mail, and in-person with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
· Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
· Sitting for a long period of time viewing the computer terminal while performing some of the essential functions of the position.
Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
