Multi-National Manufacturing Company is seeking an Experienced Cost/Material Accountant for a position at our facility in Apple Grove, WV. A 4-year degree in accounting is required along with 4 years of manufacturing experience. Candidates with SAP experience may be given priority. Overview:
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Cost Accountant is responsible for overseeing and analyzing cost related to the production of numerous products, manage the fixed assets at the facility, prepare government reports, and other duties as defined.
Cost Accountant duties and responsibilities:
Develop and maintain cost accounting system, documentation and records Review costs for all external inventory, labor and material purchases Analyze costs of raw materials and other supplies and create cost-benefit analyses for changing vendors Collect and compile purchasing data for analysis Prepare and complete internal cost audits Comply with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) for financial statements Analyze capital budgeting requests Prepare documents and interpret financial information regarding cost improvements for managers Present cost estimates and budgets for new purchases Assist Finance Manager with suggesting changes to policies or procedures to increase cash flow Accurately record and update existing and new purchased materials and goods Compile documentation on standard costs and company production costs Assist in audits and general ledger preparation Forecast and plan future purchasing costs according to fiscal needs Maintain company accounting procedures and processes Exercise tact in all oral and written communications with whom professional contact is made including but not limited to the ability to support and communicate effectively with multiple managers and diverse customer groups. Assist in other duties as assigned.
Specific qualities and experience for the position include:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business with an emphasis in accounting or a related field preferred A solid understanding of US GAAP; knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations Four years of previous accounting, bookkeeping or related experience Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software, Microsoft Office, SAP Accurate and precise attention to detail Excellent analysis skills A strong understanding of business and the role accounting plays in both growth and cost control scenarios Possess a collaborative relationship style, adept at working across the organization A demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide group of employees Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time efficiently.
