Principal Responsibility: The Firearms Processing Specialist is primarily responsible for the intaking of Firearms, their subsequent documents, processing, and disposition. The Firearms Processing Specialist is responsible for answering phones and helping field questions regarding firearms for the Vehicle and Firearm Manager. The Firearms Processing Specialist is responsible for cataloging and inventory management of firearms and maintaining their records according to Federal Firearms License regulations.
Position is Hourly Position Reports to the Auction Manager
Position Supports: Sales Department, Auction Curator, Loadouts Department, Intakes Department
The Sales Support Specialist is Responsible For:
- Providing customer service regarding Firearm transactions.
- Keep comprehensive and organized records for future reference of all Firearms intakes and sales
- Auditing and reconciliation of previous firearms records.
- Compile reports for management review of Firearms Auctions and help manage a CRM platform to retain customers and potentially seek out new prospective sales, while maintaining APAA's competitive position w/in the market.
- Help with all firearm dispositions through the Loadout Department after an auction closes.
- Oversee all 4473 e-check forms with customers and is responsible for conducting the final check of applicable company, state, and federal forms before a firearm is transferred to the customer.
- Maintain an accurate digital A&D Logbook and cloud storage management system.
- Ensures compliance with all Local, State, and Federal Legal requirements related to benefit auctions, storage unit auctions, and the regulations as an employee of an ATF FFL licensed dealer.
- Cataloging data entry for firearms (photographs/describes) firearms and/or supervises the cataloging of firearms to ensure items are represented correctly according to APAA standards and any required government regulations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position supervises catalogers assigned to firearms auctions. Also supervises the Loadout department in the transfer of firearms for all state and local laws.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of purchasing firearms by either working in the firearms retail industry or collecting firearms.
- Background in current and antique firearms models.
- Must be 21 years of age at the time of application.
- Ability to safely handle firearms.
- Require the use of APAA’s digital A&D logbook and 4473 e-cloud file storage system.
- Must have a good work ethic, attention to detail, time management skills, and excellent organizational skills.
- Project management skills and abilities are preferred, but not required.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of 1 year of photography and/or training are preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency in MS Office and/or Google Workspace Applications.
- Valid Alaska Driver’s license
- Ability to pass a federal background check and provide references.

Schedule: M-F, 9a-6p, 1-Hour Unpaid Break for an 8-Hour Shift. Evening & Weekends as necessary for Benefit Auction coordination.
Experience: Minimum one year of photography experience and/or training preferred, but not required. Proficiency in MS Office and/or Google Workspace Applications. Ability to answer phone calls, respond to emails, and contact customers.
