Nesbitt Contracting is hiring a Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to work on heavy equipment with knowledge of Caterpillar, John Deere and Cumming Equipment.
Description of Heavy Equipment Mechanic
· Performs master level diagnosis and repair on all landfill heavy equipment, commercial trucks and miscellaneous equipment reducing the need for outsourcing to third party vendors
· Responsible for much of the higher-level repair work on all equipment
· Work closely with the Project Managers to efficiently and effectively keep equipment in good working condition and prioritize repairs in a manner to keep operations running.
· Complete records for repairs and maintenance performed on all equipment and vehicle
· Able to perform welding on equipment, and metal fabrication when necessary
· Able to train mechanics and co-workers in the proper care of assigned equipment and mechanical operation of equipment and vehicle
Heavy Equipment Mechanic Requirements:
· Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of experience
· Master level knowledge of diesel mechanics on Caterpillar, John Deere and Cumming Equipment, such as, landfill compactors, dozers, road graders, scrapers, heavy haul trucks, excavators, loaders, commercial trucks and other miscellaneous earthmoving equipment
· Must have the ability to complete various repairs on equipment from start to finish (diagnose problem, create work order, tear down, repair and/or replace)
· Must have the ability and willingness to follow standard safety practices and procedures common to the operation and servicing of equipment and vehicles
· Must have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions; ability to establish effective working relationships with employees
· fabrication skills are a plus
· A clean Motor Vehicle Record and passing a drug screen.
Working Conditions
- This position involves frequent lifting of 25 pounds with occasional lifting of up to 60 pounds. This job requires lifting to be combined with bending and twisting on elevated and irregular surfaces. There is moderate exposure to disagreeable elements such as dust, fumes, noise, dampness, cold, heat, grease, oil, and exposure to health, occupational hazards and other elements inherent to landfill work.
