Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Controller to join our team. The Assistant Controller will report directly to the Director of Finance and Accounting and play a key role in overseeing the company's financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting principles.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant regulatory requirements.
- General Ledger Management: Oversee the general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closings. Review and analyze general ledger accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies or variances.
- Internal Controls and Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal control procedures and recommend enhancements to mitigate financial risks. Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Audit Support: Coordinate and support internal and external audits. Prepare audit schedules, respond to audit inquiries, and ensure timely completion of audit requirements.
- Tax Compliance: Assist our external advisors in the preparation and filing of tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and other applicable taxes.
- Team Leadership and Collaboration: Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting staff. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and management, to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data and reporting.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and ERP systems. Experience with Netsuite is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
