JOB DESCRIPTION
JIB Medical is seeking an experienced Chief X-Ray Technician to join our JIB Medical team of professionals. Reporting to the Director of Medical and CMO, the Chief X-Ray Technician will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Direct and coordinate radiology and ultrasound services at JIB Medical.
- Able to perform mammography, radiology, DEXA, and body composition studies.
- Act as liaison for JIB Medical during inspections from OSHA, FDA, State and local Boards of Health and other regulatory agencies.
- Responsible for OSHA compliance.
- Ensures staff complies by meeting Continuing Medical Education requirements for radiology, mammography, and ultrasound.
- Review/revise work schedules and assign duties to staff to maintain efficient patient flow.
- Interacts with patients/family member, etc to address customer service issues.
- Screens positive radiographic reports to determine if a follow-up is necessary.
- Develops and maintains a policy and procedure manual for Radiology and Ultrasound.
- Implements and maintains a performance improvement plan for Radiology and Ultrasound.
- Assists in billing to third party payers for Radiology/Ultrasound services provided at JIB Medical.
- Oversee staff in operation of imaging equipment, such as x-ray machine, mammography, bone density, DEXA and ultrasound and evaluates accuracy and quality of images and provides technical assistance.
- Train radiology staff on new techniques, equipment, and procedures.
- Implement and monitor radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with government regulatory requirements.
- Recommend personnel actions, such as performance evaluations, promotions, and monitors department-operating budget.
- Oversees and maintains all aspects of the PACS system, maintains active communication with all involved parties (PACS vendors, consultants, JIB Medical EMR manager, JIB Medical Management, nursing, and clerical staff).
- May be required to perform other duties in the department.
Work Environment
This job operates in a Medical Outpatient Primary Care Patient environment. This role routinely uses standard medical office equipment such as desktop computers, phone, scanner, printer, keyboard, photocopiers, imaging systems/machines, and other medical equipment related to the position.
Physical Demands
Sedentary work environment with physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. This would require the ability to lift files, pull files/forms/books, stand, bending, shred documents, open/close filing cabinets, as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time onsite – Non-Exempt (Local 153) position. Schedule Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Every Other Saturday 7:30 am – 2:00 pm, and Tuesday 9:00 am – 5:30 pm with Monday off during the week Saturday is worked. Closed Sunday. Flexibility: Must be able to work overtime when necessary.
Travel -- No travel is expected for this position.
Required Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- Must be licensed by the State of New York as a Radiologic Technologist.
- Must maintain active license/registration for the duration of employment.
- Supervisory and leadership experience required.
- Knowledgeable in current quality control and quality improvement in a radiology setting.
- Must have a minimum of five years of experience in hospital radiology or diagnostic radiology setting.
- AART (M) certification required.
- AART (R) certification required.
- Graduation from an accredited Ultrasound Program required.
- ARDMS certification required.
- eCW – E-Clinical Works experience required.
