ABOUT THE COMPANY & JOB:
Excitant Therapeutics is a pharmaceutical R&D company based in Edmond, OK. Excitant Therapeutics is developing a novel oral medicine for various eye diseases including diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, and age-related macular degeneration. The Excitant team is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join the team! The ideal candidate will assist in various lab activities such as working with research animals, collecting and analyzing data, maintaining inventories, preparing experimental reagents (e.g., buffers and solutions), and writing reports. This position requires the ability to work well in a team environment, excellent organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and at least 3 years of relevant work experience in a life sciences-related research laboratory.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Animal research: Manage and execute assigned tasks related to animal work (e.g., animal procedures and colony maintenance).
- Technical Research: Manage and execute assigned tasks related to wet-bench technical research (e.g., reagent preparation, various biochemical assays, protein electrophoresis, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, RT-PCR).
- Record Keeping/Data Collection: Maintain detailed and organized records of experimental procedures, observations, and results.
- Data Analysis: Analyze research data with a direct supervisor.
- Report Preparation: Effectively communicate project progress with team members and collaborators via regular updates, meetings, and clear documentation. Transparency and alignment on goals and milestones are essential.
- Administrative Assistance: Perform additional duties as necessary to fulfill the function of the position and support the overall goals of the team. Flexibility and adaptability to evolving project needs and priorities are essential.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Biological Science or related field
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in a life sciences-related research laboratory
- Previous experience with animal handling/procedures
- Ability to travel between jobsites (Edmond / Oklahoma City)
- Scheduling flexibility on weekends and/or holidays as needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in animal handling and procedures, such as colony management, microsurgery, necropsy, and substance administration via various routes (e.g., IP, IM, SQ, IVT, PO)
- Proficiency in wet-lab skills (e.g., RT-PCR, western-blotting, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, etc)
