POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Supply Chain Specialist
REPORTS TO: Director of Supply Chain FLSA: Exempt
JOB SUMMARY: Perform a broad range of assignments involving operations and supply chain.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Learn, Research, Analyze, current processes, advise, present and implement ‘Lean Supply Chain’ Process Improvements
· Procure material components or equipment necessary for the operation of the company under limited supervision.
· Perform the rescheduling and canceling of purchases according to material requirements.
· Exercise a good knowledge of materials and sources of supply to make purchases at prices consistent with quality and quantity requirements.
· Input and verify purchase orders for the procurement of materials and services to support the company.
· Effectively utilize processes and resources to identify and select the most efficient and cost effective suppliers.
· Initiate necessary action to correct schedule slippage, quality issues or manufacturing problems at selected suppliers.
· Prepare standard requests for quotation and provide recommendations to management for awarding contracts above limits of responsibility.
· Perform analysis of shortages and forecast share with suppliers to ensure material is available to meet production schedules, while maintaining minimum inventory levels.
· Work closely with Planning, Production Control, Material Control, Manufacturing, Engineering, Accounting, Order Administration, Sales and Marketing to ensure that the needs of both internal and external customers are met.
· Develop Product knowledge and expertise
· Provide first response for Customer support, own full responsibility on RMA process, customer oriented.
· Participate in the disposition of non-conforming material.
· Responsible for maintaining and improving ISO9001 Quality System as related to area(s) of responsibility.
· Perform other related duties as directed.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Associates, bachelors, and/or MBA degree or equivalent in education and work experience.
Experience: A minimum of one year of related job experience.
Skills: Knowledge of the principles and practices of purchasing. Skill in communication and leadership. Skill in supplier negotiations with an aggressive approach to achieving results in regard to delivery, cost and quality. Ability to effectively handle a high volume workload under pressure. Ability to operate a computer (Excel and Word skills preferred).
Physical: Must be in good health. Must be able to work long hours when necessary.
